Hi! I'm Sam, the owner and creator of Botany Barn Canada, and I’m super excited to introduce my brand new blog to you. I've always been passionate about plants, the beauty of nature, and taking care of our planet. That's why I started my own sustainable skincare ecommerce business, specializing in natural soapmaking. Today, I'd love to share my story with you and explain why I've decided to embark on this blogging journey.
After completing grad school in 2016 and unsure what to do next, I began working in urban agriculture & selling my handmade soaps on the side. What started as a very small side business grew organically over the next 5 years into a full time job!
My passion for gardening has heavily influenced my soapmaking and the evolution of my business. Each bar of soap contains a little piece of nature - veggies, flowers, clays, teas, plant milks, essential oils, and more! Soapmaking is so addictive to me because it is both a science & an art. I love the challenge of creating the most skin-loving, earth friendly soaps that are also a work of art!
So, why start a blog? The truth is, there's so much more to natural skincare than meets the eye. I've learned so much on my journey to create sustainable, skin-loving products, and I am eager to share my knowledge and experiences with others. This blog will be a place where I can connect with you, my lovely customers and fellow skincare enthusiasts, to share tips, tricks, and insights into the world of natural skincare. I also hope to inspire and empower others to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Now, you might be wondering why I chose to name the blog "Lathered in Nature". The name perfectly encapsulates the essence of my brand and the philosophy behind my products. "Lathered" represents the luxurious experience of using my soap bars, while "in Nature" emphasizes my commitment to using all-natural ingredients. Every element of my soaps serves a purpose and has been mindfully chosen to ensure that I bring the best of nature to your skincare routine.
As we embark on this blogging adventure together, I'll be sharing personal stories, educational content, DIY recipes, and updates on the latest happenings at Botany Barn Canada.
